According to reports, Tata Motors will soon launch the Tiago with AMT gearbox, in order to reduce the sales of Maruti Suzuki Celerio AMT, Hyundai Grand i10 AT and Renault Kwid AMT in India. Tata Tiago forayed into the small car segment with a bang, as it gave a tough competition to Renault Kwid in terms of sales.
With this, Tata Motors will look to create its own niche in the ever-growing entry level segment. Tata Motors launched the Tiago hatchback on April 6 at Rs 3.20 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi). Moreover, Tata Motors had received around 50,000 bookings for their Tiago hatchback in India in the month of October, with a waiting period of almost 4 months for select variants.
Tata Motors reportedly has sold close to 6008 units of the Tiago in November, in comparison to 11,059 units sold of the Grand i10 and 9543 units of the Celerio. With the Tiago AMT, Tata Motors will look to reduce this huge gap with the Celerio and the Grand i10. Currently, Tata Motors is offering AMT in its compact sedan Zest only.
The online medium has been abuzz for the past few days with few media publications reportedly spotting the Tiago AMT testing on the streets of Pune.
Currently, Tata Tiago is available with a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine and a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine options.
