Renault Kwid to be exported to South Africa, Bhutan and Bangladesh from India

The Kwid was launched in 2015 by Renault to capture a chunk of the small car segment that the Maruti Suzuki Alto has had a hold on for quite some time. Renault are selling the Kwid not only in India, but in countries like Sri Lanka and Mauritius.

Renault is now planning to increase the export markets for the Kwid. South Africa, Bhutan and Bangladesh have been touted as ideal places for the made in India Kwid to be sold in.

“We started exports of Kwid with Sri Lanka, followed by Nepal and now we are going to Bhutan and Bangladesh,” Renault India Operations Country CEO and Managing Director Sumit Sawhney told PTI.

“We are also working on South Africa currently and shipments are expected to be sent in the first quarter of next year,” Sawhney added.

The exports to Bhutan and Bangladesh will begin in the second half of 2017 while exports to South Africa could begin as early as first quarter of 2017. The Kwid has been built in India with 98 per cent of localisation.
