Swedish carmaker Volvo has updated the V40 and V40 Cross Country by giving both the cars a facelift. The new models were launched at an event in Kochi.
The 2017 models are available in three variants, namely the V40 D3 R-Design (Rs 28.53 lakh, Ex-showroom Delhi), V40 CC D3 Inscription (Rs 29.4 lakh, Ex-showroom Delhi) and V40 CC T4 Momentum (Rs 27.2 lakh, Ex-showroom Delhi).
The major changes to the new models are merely cosmetic and not mechanical in nature. The headlights have been updated and the new V40 sports the Thor’s Hammer headlights that are present on the XC90 and S90. The interiors have also been updated and the new car features the same large touchscreen infotainment system that is present on the XC90 and S90, again.
The engine underneath the bonnet of the V40 and V40 Cross Country is the same 2.0-litre diesel that churns out 149bhp and 320Nm of torque which is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. All the power is sent to the front wheels.
Volvo Auto India’s MD Tom von Bonsdorff commented, “The launch of V40 and V40 Cross Country today along with the new 3S facility in the heart of Kochi emphasises our commitment to garner a 10 percent segment share in the medium term. The car was well received when we launched the Cross Country in mid 2013 and the V40 in June 2015.”
