According to reports, General Motors will soon launch the Chevrolet Essentia in India, most likely in March, 2017. First showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, the new Chevrolet Essential will be based on the new generation Beat hatchback.
The new model headlines Chevrolet’s plan to increase its presence on Indian roads by tackling the fiercely competitive A-segment with an exciting new car that recognises the need for a traditional, but richly appointed notchback.
According to reports, the all new Chevrolet Essentia will come with both petrol and diesel mills. While the petrol mill will house a 1.2-litre SMARTECH engine that churns out 77bhp of peak power and 106Nm of peak torque, while the 1.0-litre SMARTECH diesel engine will produce maximum power of 56bhp and maximum torque of 142Nm. Both the engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
On the features front, the all new Essentia will come with Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Chevrolet’s latest MyLink infotainment system.
Although not much is known about the upcoming Chevrolet Essentia, it is possible that it may share design elements with new generation Beat Activ, which is also said to come to India next year.
The new Chevrolet Essential will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Aspire in India.
We expect the all new Chevrolet Essentia to come for a price tag of Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
