Bajaj Auto officially named its biggest and most powerful motorcycle as “Dominar 400”. The Dominar 400 shall be unveiled in India on December 15. Dominar is a derivation from a Spanish word which means “to excel or exceed in power”.\
Eric Vas, President (Motorcycle Business), Bajaj Auto said, “We are delighted to announce the name of the most anticipated brand from the Bajaj Auto stable. The Dominar 400 has already created lot of excitement amongst bikers, which is befitting for what’s going to be one of the most path breaking products in the history of the Indian motorcycle industry.”
The first Dominar 400 motorcycle was rolled out from Bajaj Auto’s Chakan Plant on November 18.
The new Dominar 400 will be feature loaded in all senses. It will come with projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, backlit switch gear, LED tail lamps and even slim LED indicators. The instrument panel will be all digital complete with tacho, speedo etc.
Bajaj has also done away with old school features like a kick starter. It is also rumoured to feature specially designed MRF tyres.
The engine has been borrowed from the KTM Duke 390, but from there it has been completely reworked. It features Bajaj’s DTSi Triple Spark tech and as a result the head has to be obviously reworked. Power will be slightly under the 43bhp mark which the Duke 390 offers.
