Winners and losers in car sales for May 2016

2014_05_06_skoda_yeti_02On the sales of car

The month of May did not come out to be like the past couple of months if one considers the overall sales of the car. But it can be said that the sales is substantially ahead if one compares it to the year 2015. Although the month of May has not proved to be great in terms of the sale but simultaneously, it has also shown the steady growth of the overall market in the past few months. The industry is growing steadily every year which is quite exciting too. Few interesting stories and facts have come up in the month of May 2016, and mentioned below is a small list of the winners and losers of this month.

Winners of May 2016 in terms of sales of car

The name of the first car which should be mentioned in this list is that of Toyota Innova Crysta. This next generation model of the Toyota Innova is more expensive than the older one and in the very first month it has acquired a sale of 7,000 units. Everything that Toyota produces at the facility is expected to be sold in a month which indicates that the numbers will get stabilized in the next few months. Once again in the last month, the sales of the Baleno were over 10,000 units. Although the Baleno has penetrated the Nexa showrooms in a limited manner, still the hatchback in the market has been actually doing well. The waiting period for getting a new hatchback Blaleno is almost around three months and in the next few months, the sales number is expected to have a steady rise and all this is thought to be once production gets realigned to the domestic requirements and the manage exports.

Losers of May 2016 in terms of sales of car

The production of the model Kwid has been stopped by Renault for a few days in the month of May for adjusting the assembly line for the increased production. In the last month, this led to a sudden drop in the sales of Kwid as the company has decided to sell everything which has been produced at the facility and the waiting list is beyond that of four months. For the very first time, the sales of Eon have dropped below the mark of 4000. The hatchback’s entry level numbers was at a stand of 3634 units in the month of May which is extremely low.

The coming months will actually prove whether Eon is falling out from the growing competition of Alto 800 and Renault Kwid or whether it is just a case related to the operations. Mahindra Bolero which was the highest selling car for quite a long period of time gave the biggest surprise in this month. May had more numbers of sales for the KUV 100s which led to the drop of the sales in Bolero to 4,419 units. The reason of this can be either the Vitara Brezza which has caught the rural market where Bolero had dominated or some serious issues with the production of Mahindra have taken place.
