The festive season is fast approaching and for a lot of car-buyers, now is the time to decide which car to buy! Why? Well, the festive season is the time when a whole lot of new cars are launched in India because people consider this an auspicious time to bring a new family member home. If you are the same, here’s a look at the top 5 upcoming cars in India this year.
- The Renault Kwid AMT
One can get the 800cc petrol engine Kwid now with a five-speed manual gearbox, but the one that is equipped with the AMT can be expected to be available by the festive season this year. This new Renault Kwid was launched at the Auto Expo 2016 and is expected to have additional safety features which make it a good choice for small families. ABS and dual-front airbags also can be expected.
- New Hyundai Eon
Hyundai, the very popular Korean car-makers are giving the Hyundai Eon a facelift and lots of exciting things are in store for car-lovers in India. The budget hatchback is going to get interior changes as well as exterior upgrades. We are expecting the new Hyundai Eon to sport the new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. The engine will most probably remain the same mechanically. We are also speculating that Hyundai may be contemplating the new launches of Renault Kwid and Maruti Alto K10, both of which sport the AMT variant, and also come up with the same for the Eon. However, there has been no official confirmation of the same.
- Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS
There is no doubt that Maruti is India’s small car specialist and a very popular car-maker. The Baleno RS was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016 and we are expecting that it will not only sport cosmetic updates from the old Baleno hatchback. The RS version will be sporting a turbo petrol engine unit, direct injection and 1.0-litre BoosterJet. Also expect it to put out 112bhp and 175Nm of peak torque. In fact, when it becomes available, the Baleno RS will join the ranks of hatchbacks with 100+bhp cars like the Ford Figo, Fiat Abarth Punto and Volkwsagen Polo GT. You can also expect prettier interiors from the new Baleno.
- Volkswagen Polo GTI
This German car-maker is going to make Indian car-lovers very happy with this new car, which is perfect for small families looking for a zippy ride. It will sport a 1.8-litre TSI turbocharged petrol unit putting out 190bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Apart from this, there are going to be minor cosmetic changes that will differentiate it from its predecessor such as new alloy design, LED fog lamps, GTI insignia and red brake callipers.
- Tata Tiago Sedan
We are expecting the sedan version of Tata Tiago to arrive soon. There will be contemporary design with interiors that will be well-thought out. What is most exciting is that this sedan is going to be priced very competitively to suit the middle-class Indian family.
