Thanks to the efforts of Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, the campaign to Make in India has been hugely successful and we are expecting more foreign investments into the auto industry this year. The best example that there will be more cars for the year 2016 in India from foreign investors is the fact that the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki Baleno has already started their production here. Despite the emission scandals and sales ban in the capital, there are quite a few upcoming cars for 2016 ready for launch. Let us take a look.
Kite 5 from Tata
A sedan makeover to the already hot selling Tiago from Tata, this car is very contemporary on the outset. And it definitely is one of the most awaited cars for the year 2016. Since it is a uptake from Tata Tiago, you can see similarities between the two cars in terms of the interior and powertrain. It is expected that this car will come with an AMT and a 5 speed transmission (manual) variants given the later launch date. If the price is competitive enough, then this could well be one of the best cars of the year 2016.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS
The Auto Expo for 2016 saw a sportier version of this famous hatchback. It is not the pure aesthetics or the cosmetics that has undergone a change in this updated Baleno, but it is also fitted with the much awaited 1L direct injection, booster jet turbo engine unit for petrol. This is one of the most awaited upcoming cars for 2016 which will be joining the bandwagons of hatchbacks like Fiago, VW Polo GT soon from October 2016.
Volkswagen Polo GTI
We are in the age where we seek faster and more compact cars. And that is what this German manufacturer is bringing to our doorsteps with their updated Volkswagen Polo GTI, expected to hit the stores from September 2016. You can call this a twin of the famed 105bhp Polo GT from Volkswagen but is much better in terms of power and speed. Imagine going to 100kph in less than 7 seconds on the road. What better can one hope for in the cars for the year 2016!
This is a true testament to the Prime Minister’s campaign for Make in India. This compact sedan was unveiled by the team, as a car made in and for India. The car one of the awaited upcoming cars for 2016 is also the first sedan from the German Manufacturer designed for the Indian roads. The car looks very similar to the Polo versions in terms of engine options and the gear box. A slight variant to the famous Polo of the same manufacturer, the car is expected to be launched in August 2016.
Do you remember this car, which was once touted as the most comfy cars of the lot, especially for the Indian roads? The car lost its market luster for the lack of diesel variant and due to new entrants like Camry and Superb. So, if you are missing this car, then not to worry, as a new updated version of Honda Accord is about to be launched. The new hybrid has a sporty look and is expected to hit the roads by mid 2016. Despite being a old hybrid, the car is set to become one of the best cars of the year 2016!
Apart from the above, there are also Nexon and Hexa from Tata which is expected to be released in 2016 along with cars like Innova Crysta and Maruti Ignis. It is going to be an interesting year and we need to wait to see which cars become the best cars of the year 2016.
